When to Visit Lake Texoma

When to visit Lake Texoma

When is the best time to visit Lake Texoma? Short answer... anytime. It depends on what you are looking for and each season has its advantages. The lake is open 365 days a year and there is no shortage of things to do at the lake all year long.

Summer - From Memorial Day to Labor Day, Summer is high-season on the Lake. It's the busiest time and everything fills up quickly. With a lot more activity going around, the lake is hopping and there is great oppurtunity for some people-watching. With the warm water, its time to get in the water and enjoy watersports such as watersking and wakeboarding, sailing, fishing, or just some time swimming at the beach.

Activities: Boating, Watersports, Concerts, BBQs, Fishing, Family Reunions, Beach, Camping

Fall - Want to experience our favorite time of year at the lake? Fall is your choice, it just about as good as it gets here. With the cooler weather, less crowds and great fishing, Fall is spectacular. The water typically stays warm enough to get in comfotably through October, so you can still enjoy the watersports. Sailing is really good in Fall also.

Activities: Boating, Watersports, Sailing, Festivals, Fishing, Camping, Corporate Retreats

Winter - Winters on Texoma can be anything from toasty to frosty. We do get snow and ice storms on rare occaisions, but for the most part winter is pleasant. Novemeber and December are starting to cool off, but there's been plenty of New Year's Days that we've worn t-shirts and had a great day on the lake. The legend is that if you want to catch big fish, February is the best time to be on the lake... if you can tough out the cold. If you're looking into getting a peak at some of the Bald Eagles that call Texoma home, January and February are best.

Activities: Boating, Romantic Escapes, Fishing, Camping, Holiday Parties, Bird-watching

Spring - If you're into sailing, Spring is probably the best time to be here. Spring Fishing is fun and the lakes activity is starting to pick up, gearing up for the summer. March is often still a bit chilly, but there are pleasant days also. April and May historically are the rainiest of the months.

Activities: Boating, Sailing, Camping, Weddings
